Risks in Professional Sports
There are plenty of benefits for being a professional athlete. At the same time professionals have a lot to live up to. Everyone is watching them all the time. They have to be careful at all times because if they mess up, then the whole world might think otherwise of him or her. Look at the Micheal Vick situation, long before he got in trouble for dog fighting, dog fighting has been going on all over the US, but when a pro is involved, he gets in trouble. At that time, almost everyone hated him but what about those others out there in the world that are probably still participating in dog fighting.

i agree that being a professional athlete has some hidden social disadvantages and they are in the limelight at all times. this would get very stressful and hard at times however i think in times like this they should look at the positives, they are getting paid millions of dollars to do what they love. i will never be a pro athlete so i cannot relate but i dont know anyone who wouldnt trade spots with a famous athlete.
